CANELACORE FESTIVAL 2009 - TORREMOLINOS

The CANALACORE Festival was created with the unconditional love for music, party and the strange world of costumes and disguise. After 2 successful editions, the 3rd edition of this summer music festival will take place at the Caseta de la Juventud of the Torremolinos City Hall on Saturday the 8th of August 2009.

Canelacore is no hardcore festival, or surf, or punk, or Indie or Flamenco … It pretends to be so much more: a fashionable meeting of those who like independent music in general. Its idea is to be able to change the public into the nucleus of the party, participating actively with their costumes, transforming into presents and pleasant speeches.

BANDS – PROGRAMMING CANELACORE 2009

DELOREAN
In a dictionary Delorean could be appearing as a synonym for “festivity”. They have been described in several ways but the most important is to know that they can make us dance till we vomit, because of all the confetti you swallow, during their performance. Their remixes of famous and big bands of the international independent scene brought them at the highest level of the foreign specialized press, with very good critics. Their tour through Malaga comes together with the presentation of their new EP “Ayrton Senna”.

NOTES TO MYSELF
Notes to Myself is one of the best Spanish live bands at the moment regarding to experimental Indie-Rock. They don’t have to be jealous at the big international bands, unless if you’re speaking of promotion. Their 9 years of experience of live performing brought them to an unforgettable tour at the USA east coast. Notes to myself is one of these bands that makes you angry when they finish playing because of the continuous craving in your ears. At this edition of Canelacore they will present their new album for Astoria Records.

ROSVITA
After having brought their risky musical bet for several times in whole Europe and after having been playing at festivals of the size of Primavera Sound, Rosvita will be in Malaga for the first time. These three guys, used to leave nobody indifferent after their crazy live shows, are moving more and more to the post-rock scene, but in a complete original way.

LOS CARNIVOROS
This Early Rock ‘n Roll Quartet was formed by veterans from the Spanish underground scene with people like MEMBRANAS, WAU Y LOS ARRRGHS, ROCKAHULAS, etc. Los Carnivoros make music that if one day you would become a vegetarian, you would think it twice and rediscover the good taste of meet and you would have a good time with these passionate Early Rock ‘n Roll lovers.

SHAMEFUL HEAVEN
We made it!! Finally one of the most influent spanish hardcore bands of the 90’s are palying live again. For a lot of fans they were ahead of their time and surprised with their original and innovating mix of rock, melody and metal. ADORNO
Everybody who ever has put his nose in the world of “tralla” (or do we have to call it ‘scream’, ‘hard-core-punk’, ‘post-hard-core’ or ‘emo-core’) must have heard speaking of Adorno. It caught the attention the fact that a band so young and Portugese has been touring through Europe from North to South and from East to West. Very often they are compared to the mitical German band Yage and everybody who saw them live knows that is the best compliment they can have.

DJ ELEGANZE
Since more than 7 years DJ Eleganze has been Resident dj at the Nómada Café de Artes, one of the bars in Malaga City with the most movement and history. DJ Eleganze returns to her beloved city with a citrated repertory in multiple electronics, able to delight the rock lovers as well as the most pure techno lovers. Party and Frenzy are assured every night when DJ Eleganze’s sunglasses and moustache take place at the turntable. His music has been bouncing in clubs like Mondo Tiki, Café Del Sol, Chill House,…

DJ EXBOYFRIEND
Exboyfriend is a project very difficult to describe, born in Malaga. As eternal entertainer from the Staf Parties and because of his continuous search and his membership of rock and roll and hardcore etc. made him move to the world of mixes and electronic. His sessions are typical with an elegant combination of music styles, going from new wave, techno-rock, robot-rock; passing also pure pop and post punk. One word: crazy!
