David Planell wins the Biznaga de Oro

With his first movie La Vergüenza David Planell won the Biznaga de Oro (Award) at the 12th Festival of Malaga of Spanish Cinema, celebrated from last 17th till the 25th of April 2009.

La Vergüenza is a story about a young couple that wants to return their adopted son… A social worker helps them with this process.



Planell wins the Biznaga de Oro for Best Film and the Award for best script. Between his film and El Niño Pez (The Fish Kid) from Lucía Puenzo, winner of the Special Jury Award and Best Photography, it were Eduard Fernández, Best Actor, Nausicaa Bonnín, Best Actress and Mar Coll, Best Director who were awarded for their role in Tres Días con La Familia (Three days with the family).

It is not the first time David Planell wins an award. Together with Gracia Querejeta he was awarded with ‘recognition’ for the script of their movie Héctor and at the San Sebastian Festival for Siete Mesas de Billar Francés (Seven Billiard Tables).
