The Ojos de Brujo project was created in 1996 by jam sessions of various musicians from the Barcelona music scene by that time. Some years they keep on playing together without any formality but all these jams will create the contents of their first album Vengue, back in 1999, released in Spain, but also in Belgium, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and France.

To promote the album they have been touring all over Europe and due to the mouth-to-mouth publicity that brought these concerts Ojos de Brujo would sell finally 40,000 copies of Vengue, of which 20,000 in only 8 months.
Ojos de Brujo is formed by Ramón Giménez (guitar and soul of the band), Marina “Las Canillas” Abad (lead vocalist and image of the band), Xavi Turull aka. “Captain Crest” (plays all types of percussion, like cajon, tablas and congas), DJ Panko (Scratching), Maxwell Wright (drums and vocals), Paco Lomeña (flamenco guitar), Javi (Bass) and Carlitos Surduy (congas, keyboards and trumpet).

In 2001 they break up the contract with their record company Eden and will start their own label. This action will open lots of doors in Spain, basically, and in 2002they release Barí, on their own label La Fábrica de Colores (The Colour Factory). Barí is the complete dike burst for Ojos de Brujo and to promote this album they will perform live on festivals all over the world, like USA, Mexico, Canada, Japan, Cuba and of course in Spain and the rest of Europe.
