BIOGRAPHY CHAMBAO

Chambao

Chambao brings electronic “Flamenco Chill” music, also the title of debut album, back in 2002, and they can be considered original and unique with their groovy fusion sound of pure flamenco mixed with soft beats and samples, on top of that: the amazing voice of Lamari.

Lamari, lead singer Chambao

The name Chambao is a self invented word to describe a self created form of a beach tent to protect yourself against sun and wind.

It was the Dutch musician Hendrik Takkenberg who discovered this band in Malaga and that’s when they started to perform live as a trio. By that time it was lead singer María del Mar, “Lamari”, Eduardo and Dani, who left the band after the release of their album Pokito a Poko, in 2005. Their second album, Endorfina en la mente (Endorphins in the Mind), released in 2003, was awarded with the Premios Onda.

After 6 albums now, Chambao became internationally famous and in the United Kingdom their song Ahí estás Tú , taken from the Flamenco Chill album, was used in a national promo video for Andalusia.
